Rolf Rothermel qualified at the Architectural Association School of Architecture with the help of an Exhibition Scholarship from Essex County Council and a grant from the Architect’s Registration Council of the United Kingdom. Following the award of the AA Diploma and completion of the RIBA Professional Practice examination, he qualified for admittance to the ARCUK (now the Architects Registration Board) Register of Architects in the UK and as a Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects. He then took his finals in town planning and was elected a Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute. In 1985 he was admitted into the Freedom of the City of London.
